Formite’s Compact Laminate -Melamite is a durable and eco-friendly board that brings exceptional performance to a wide range of applications. Formite® is the largest manufacturer and supplier of Compact Laminates in Pakistan.

Produced by stacking layers of kraft paper sandwiched between decorative paper impregnated with phenolic resin, and pressed under high temperature and pressure. Melamite offer superior properties of compact laminates including acid resistance, alkali resistance, fire resistance, moisture resistance, and impact resistance. 

Melamite is categorized under two types:

General Grade

General Grade Melamite is a compact laminate which offers a balance of performance and affordability, making it suitable for various projects. It is known for its durability, impact resistance, moisture resistance, and fire resistance.

 The layers of kraft paper impregnated with phenolic resin and the highpressure manufacturing process result in a solid, dense material that can withstand heavy use and wear.

Due to its excellent properties, general grade compact laminate finds applications in both residential and commercial settings. It can be used for interior surfaces such as countertops, tabletops, partitions, wall panels, cabinetry, shelving, and furniture. It is also commonly used in high-traffic areas such as schools, hospitals, restaurants, retail spaces, and public facilities.

General Grade Melamite is available in various colors, patterns, and finishes, allowing for design flexibility and customization. It is often chosen for its aesthetic appeal and versatility, as it can mimic the appearance of natural materials such as wood or stone while offering enhanced durability and resistance to moisture and impact.

Technical Grade

Formite’s Technical/Electrical Grade Melamite (Bakelite) is commonly used for electrical insulation, as well as for the production of various components and fixtures. It typically meets specific industry  standards and requirements, ensuring its suitability and performance in construction applications.

Formite’s Technical/Electrical Grade Melamite may be used in various construction-related products, such as electrical panels, switches, sockets, circuit breakers, junction boxes, and other electrical components. It provides excellent insulation properties, helping to prevent electrical shocks and fires.

Additionally, Bakelite’s heat resistance makes it suitable for applications where high temperatures may be present, such as in lighting fixtures or industrial equipment.

Electrical Grade P1: The paper-based P1 (PFCP 201) surpasses other PFCP types in mechanical applications and properties. It is an excellent choice for electrical insulation in transformers, electric motors, switch gears, panels, and more. It offers reliable performance at normal humidity levels.

Electrical Grade P2: The paper-based P2 (PFCP 202) exhibits lower mechanical applications but excels in high voltage applications at power frequencies and high electric strength under oil. It also demonstrates good electrical strength in air under normal humidity conditions.

The material also has superior friction‑related and soundproofing qualities. Water, oil or grease can be used as a lubricant, when necessary. The product is resistant to saline water and weather conditions, and thanks to its high service temperature (120°C), it can be used to replace asbestos.
